Steroids in Sports

Today a report came out that a Miami Clinic has provided PEDs to MLB players which include Alex Rodriguez, Gio Gonzalez, Melky Cabrera, among others. When will all this steroid stuff end, all it does to sports especially the game of baseball is taint it. In my mind and in a lot of other people's minds, is that Hank Aaron should still be the Home Run King if it weren't for Barry Bonds. Records are very difficult to look at when they are tainted. Athletes don't need to take PEDs to get better, it takes effort and dedication. Obviously, the game of baseball has come along way with dealing with this. Anyone can get caught taking steroids, it doesn't matter who you are. It doesn't matter if you are Barry Bonds. It doesn't matter if you are Jeremy Jeffress (former Brewers prospect who was charged three times due to positive tests for marijuana). It was hard to look at last year especially as the huge Brewers fan that I am, when reports came out about Ryan Braun's failed PED test that incredibly high testosterone. Well eventually that had was overturned, and it is still the only arbitration case to overturned in baseball because of the report about how the sample might have been mishandled. All it proves is that no matter who you are no matter what the sport. You can get caught. Lance Armstrong lost all his Tour De France titles because of doping. Don't lie about the fact if you did in fact take some sort of steroid because it will make your career be looked at in a whole different way. Just recently, they issued random blood testing throughout the season to test for HGH. In addition to that, the class of 2013 for Baseball's Hall of Fame had a lot of players on the ballot that might have taken steroids in their careers: Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, and Roger Clemens. As a result, no one is being enshrined in Cooperstown this year, which is disappointing. All the steroid era has done for baseball is put a black cloud on America's pastime. Baseball is getting better at this, but yet there are still players that try to cheat the system which isn't worth it. The Effort and the dedication is what's worth it. If you do put the effort and the right amount of dedication, you will be looked at highly for your accomplishments no matter what game you play. You won't be looked at with an asterisk on every one of your accomplishments in your career.
