Pack-Attack: Draft/Free Agency Outlook for the Green Bay Packers

With the losses of wide receivers Greg Jennings and Donald Driver as well as Charles Woodson, the Packers have a few holes now on their roster that they need to address. With the losses of Jennings and Driver, the Packers now desperately need to find replacements through the draft or in free agency. Their top five wide outs on their roster as of now are: Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, James Jones, Jeremy Ross, and Jarrett Boykin. The top three there are pretty strong wide outs, but the other two have potential at best. If I am the Packers in the draft, I would consider this a must. Get another flashy wide outs like a Randall Cobb or a Jordy Nelson type through the draft to replace Greg Jennings and Donald Driver. They do lose some leadership with those losses, but Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb along with James Jones and tight end Jermichael Finley can help mentor these young wide outs and as well as the rest of the offensive weapons Aaron Rodgers has.
The loss of Charles Woodson however, won't be that bad of a loss. They still have Sam Shields, Tramon Williams, Morgan Burnett, M.D. Jennings, Jerron McMillan, and Jarrett Bush. So they don't lose too much with the loss of Woodson, but they do lose the leadership he provided on this roster. They still should address this in the draft even though it isn't really a need.
Defense could be another need in the draft, the Packers do have a decent defense but they need to make the pass rush a lot better especially against teams that run the read option. This would also help take some of the pressure of Clay Matthews. I wouldn't mind them signing recently released Defensive Lineman Dwight Freeney to take some pressure of Clay Matthews and he would provide some leadership on the Packers defense. That's another place where they are going to miss Charles Woodson.
Some other needs that need to be addressed in the draft and free agency are at running back and offensive line. At running back, I can see the Packers addressing that right away in the draft with their first pick (#26). A few mock drafts have the Packers drafting Monte Ball with that pick. Monte Ball was one of the best running backs ever in college football, and it would provide the Packers with a dangerous legit back for the Packers offense if they draft him. Not that DuJuan Harris and Alex Green are legit backs, they clearly aren't yet they have potential, but I can easily see Monte Ball making an impact and starting right away if they do draft him. I could also see the Packers going out in free agency and signing either Ahmad Bradshaw maybe even Michael Turner if he gets released by the Atlanta Falcons. That would also help. They need a running back that provides some sore of threat in addition to the receivers they already have. They also should improve the offensive line in this draft, the O-Line still needs some work and Aaron Rodgers could use some help there. They need to protect their quarterback. A spot to address on the offensive line could be the center position with the loss of Jeff Saturday. So look for the Packers to address these positions in the offseason whether it is in the draft or through free agency: Wide Receiver, Offensive Line, Defense (mainly pass rush), and Running Back.
